CHEN ZIQI: A YIXING FLAT-LID TEAPOT    清初 陳子畦 平蓋蓮子壺

Of compressed globular form, the teapot with a short straight neck, a flattened lid with compressed cylindrical finial, the thick spout rises upwards at lid level, and ear shaped handle also levels at the lid. The body of purple color, with visible dotted sand grains on the body. The bottom bears two character "Zi Qi" signature. Early Qing Dynasty period. Chen Ziqi was born during Ming Tianqi Dynasty in Tongxiang village of Zhejiang province, and he was active through Qing Kangxi Dynasty period. According to the clerical files of Tong Xian village, he was the father of Master Potter Chen Mingyuan. Most of Chen Ziqi’s works were thinly potted and delicate Yixing Zisha stoneware, and this particular teapot was an imitation made during early Qing Dynasty period.


此壺圓鼓腹,平底平蓋,三彎流,耳型執把,壺身與蓋舖上粗砂,滿星點點,素身中的唯一點綴,壺底刻有子畦款式。陳子畦,明天啟、清康熙年間浙江桐鄉人,或謂陳鳴遠之父"桐鄉縣志"雲,作品多紫泥,胎薄,工頗精緻,然此壺應為清初時後人所仿製。
