SHEN QUHUA: AN INSCRIBED YIXING TRIPOD JAR WITH COVER    沈蘧華製 百福百壽獅象鼎

Of globular form, the jar with similar design to jade tripod censer, the body supported by three hoof legs extending from lion masks, one side of body incised with one hundred different iterations of Chinese character "Shou", the other side incised with one hundred different iteration of Chinese character "Fu", signifying longevity and prosperity, a pair of lion mask ring handles between the characters, the finial in the shape of elephant carrying a jardiniere, and bottom bears four character "Qu Hua Zhi Tao" mark. Shen Quhua, born in 1939 at Shu Shan city Chang An village, started studying pottery under Master Gu Jingzhou in 1955, and was named the national flag bearer for All-China Women’s Federation in 1983. She has won first place trophy in Germany’s Leipzig International Convention. Her signature Yixing clay works include bamboo tea set, Yaotiao teapot, small jade pillar teapot, and this Yixing tripod jar with cover.


此仿玉香爐之鼎為圓腹,雙獅耳,帶環,一面有石羽刻之百壽圖,另一面有漢生銘刻之百福圖。三獅足,蓋上飾有一小象,惟妙惟肖,手法生動細膩,鼎底有一方"蘧華製陶"浮印。沈蘧華,1939年生於蜀山常安村,1955年隨大師顧景舟學藝,勤奮好學,工作認真負責,1983年被全國婦聯會命名為全國三八紅旗手。所製作的五頭竹簡茶具榮獲1984年德國萊比錫國際博覽會金獎。其代表作品有:竹簡茶具,窈窕壺,小玉柱壺,欽和壺,及百福百壽獅象鼎等。
