This massive Japanese cast bronze censer consists of four separate sections, with two tiers of base, each casted with an intricate detailed dragon design. The front and the back of the censer depict a bird in a bamboo grove scene, and another scene of bird in a chrysanthemum bloom, with two phoenix handles, and the cover is cast with an elder with a child. The base is casted with the mark of the makers. The censer also comes with an original wood base. Showa period, Empire of Japan.
