Composed of 108 carved lapis lazuli beads spaced by four coral beads, three strings of smaller tourmaline beads suspend from the necklace and each terminates with a coral bead, along with a central string of three coral beads with middle one carved with auspicious symbol. Qing Dynasty period.


Court necklace or Chaozhu of the present type is worn by the Qing dynasty emperor when worshipping the sky during the imperial ritual. The Beijing Palace Museum has two examples of Lapis Lazuli chaozhu listed on its online archive.
