YANG PENGNIAN MARK: A YIXING “HEXAGON” TEAPOT    楊彭年製 六方合井壺

This unique teapot’s spout, finial, handle, and bottom are all of hexagonal shape, the teapot’s body made using a very difficult technique “Xiang Shen Tong Cheng Xing” from Yixing, utilizing 12 thin trapezoid clay panels to form the exterior. The body has calligrapher colophon, and artist signature “Zi Yue”, the bottom impressed with artist stamp “Yang Peng Nian Zhi”.


此壺從流口、蓋鈕、壺把、底均為六方型。此壺採宜興特有的鑲身筒成形,由十二片梯形泥片黏合而成,難度極高,非一般工匠可為之,壺身刻有旦夕暢飲三柸,身心了無一事,子冶。
Chang Foundation, or Chan Liu Art Museum, located in Taipei, Taiwan, has a very similar teapot with same artist mark.
台北鴻禧美術館亦藏有同款之六方合井壺。
