CHEN MINGYUAN: A YIXING “BUNDLED WOOD” TEAPOT    陳鳴遠造 束材三友壺

The teapot designed as bundles of wood including bamboo, with waisted body, a naturalistic branch extending outwards as the spout, and a curved C shaped branch as handle, the finial is a bamboo section raising higher than the other woods. Bottom bears colophon and two character artist signature “MINGYUAN”, additional four character artist stamp impressed below.


Chen Mingyuan was a Yixing teapot maker during Qing Dynasty Kangxi and Yongzheng period, with multiple art names, including “He Feng”, “Shixia Shanren”, and “Hu Yin“. He handcrafted many different types of Yixing teapots and accessories, and the signature mark on this teapot has similar style to Jin and Tang Dynasty periods.
陳鳴遠,康熙、雍正年間人,號鶴峰,一號石霞山人,又號壺隱,手製茶具雅玩不下數十種,其款字有晉唐風格。
