The snuff bottle is of flattened form, with a central medallion featuring an inside painted landscape on both sides, one with author's inscription 'Zhou Le Yuan', the sides finely carved with auspicious bats and clouds in relief; the body is gilt-painted. Qing Dynasty period.

周樂元，北京人，生卒年月不詳，是內畫鼻煙壺的一代宗師。目前已知周樂元最早的內畫鼻煙壺作品創作於光緒八年（1882），而最晚的則是在光緒十九年（1893）。周樂元的內畫作品題材很廣泛、山水人物，花鳥魚蟲、書法等，無不精美，尤其擅長山水畫。
