Modelled in curved octagonal form, the cover is finely glazed in cobalt blue with the scene of a gentleman in a conversation with a young boy, all within a deep mountain setting, enclosed by repetitive geometric motif filled octagonal frame, the sides of box and cover painted with alternating cartouches of birds and fruits, separated by geometric patterns, the rims further decorated with floral scrolls. Ming Dynasty period.
