A BRONZE CAST 'ELEPHANT' TRIPOD CENSER AND COVER    清 銅鑄太平有象帶蓋香爐

The censer is decorated in relief with scrolling foliage flanked by a pair of handles in form of caparisoned elephant heads with trunks raised, supported on three further elephant heads, their curved trunks forming the legs. The openwork cover is pierced with lotus scrolls and topped with a recumbent elephant wearing inlaid beaded jewels and draped by an embroidery, carrying treasure vase on its back. The base is cast with four character 'Xuande' mark. Qing Dynasty period.
