The deity is modelled seated in royal posture on a recumbent lion, wearing long flowing robes with cold-gilt hems, the face with a meditative expression framed by a high hooded cowl. The beast with bulging eyes framed by bushy eyebrows and beard in tight curls, incised with four character inscription signed Wei Kaitong, accompanied with a fitted box. Qing Dynasty period.


此件作品取材上品壽山石圓雕而成,質地堅實細膩,如脂如膏,表面光潔溫潤,通透明媚。如此石材表達佛教的空靈與慈悲最為合適。文殊菩薩慈悲寧靜、莊重祥和,雙手置於膝蓋之上,悠然自得,安坐於迴首怒吼獅背上,雄獅怒目圓瞪,蓄勢待發,極具震撼力。文殊身著天衣綢裙,紋飾清晰細緻,整體有部分泥金。雄獅背部“魏開通制”款識。配靈芝海水紋木座,工藝精緻。細觀此作,可見其深厚的功力。魏開通,清康熙年間人。師承楊璇,擅長人物圓雕,佛像造型尤佳。雕刻風格酷似楊璇,佳品多被宮廷收藏。張先生舊藏
