Song Dynasty period or earlier. The softly faceted pear-shaped body finely cast and chased in silver and gold wire and inlaid with turquoise beads with the intertwined sinuous bodies of dragons and birds, their merged tails terminating in monster masks cast in high relief, with a band of lotus lappets encircling the spreading pedestal foot and a band of abstract scrolls on the neck, the two large loop handles applied with taotie masks, the cover with a band of dragon scroll below the crown.


此件器物以西周方壺為原型,形制莊重、紋飾瑰麗,腹呈橢方形,頸部兩側有獸首啣環。器身上的花紋以錯金銀環帶紋、蛟龍紋為飾,其間嵌松石,圈足飾蓮瓣紋,壺蓋飾垂鱗紋及竊曲紋,紋飾工整,精緻瑰麗,保存至今,十分難得。 來源:紐約重要私人藏家收藏。可參考一件類似清代粉彩福壽紋描金如意,藏於北京故宮博物院; 以及佳士得紐約拍品號1575,2012年9月,成交價USD 40,000
