A CHINESE SPINACH GREEN JADE CARVED HU VASE    清 碧玉饕餮紋雙環耳壺

Qing Dynasty period. The vase of bulbous square section raised on a tall spreading foot, boldly carved on each side of the body with a large taotie mask, below a wide band of pendent leaves, with stylised mask handles suspending loose rings on the neck, the stone of an even deep green tone, carved wood stand. 壺碧玉質,質地細膩,碧綠之色凝脂均勻,瑩潤有光,尤顯尊貴。方直口,束頸,斜肩,方腹弧壁,外撇方圈足,頸部設對稱活環耳。口緣外陰刻一匝方雷紋,頸部中間隱起一道寬帶紋,內琢刻菱格紋、迴紋與勾雲紋等紋飾,寬帶上下浮雕俯仰蕉葉紋。腹壁高浮雕形象獰奇的饕餮紋,近足處高浮雕一圈如意云紋。下承外撇圈足,光素無紋,具有法度森嚴之感。
