Chinese. The flattened spherical body raised on a spreading base and rising to a short waisted neck carved with two mythical beast mask with loose ring handles, the body carved in crisp low relief with bajixiang (eight auspicious motifs) surrounding central flowerhead with radiating ruyi heads, the domed cover carved with in openwork with a crouching dragon, the stone a dark green tone. Mid-Qing Dynasty period.

此器瓶身造型端莊秀麗，壺唇口，直頸，扁圓形腹，橢圓形圈足，肩部飾對稱雙耳。抱月瓶因其圓腹如滿月，雙耳又如同張臂抱月，故稱「抱月瓶」亦稱「寶月瓶」。瓶腹作正圓開窗，雕飾西番蓮紋於正中，象徵清正純潔，寓意福運連綿，周邊環繞法輪、法螺、寶傘、白蓋、蓮花、寶瓶、金魚、盤腸結八寶吉祥紋，極盡工巧。瓶蓋做蹲龍鈕龍身渾然大氣，豪邁舒展，形象炯炯有神，栩栩如生。此器是典型的「洋為中用」在宮中御製器物上的承載體現，抱月瓶、西番蓮紋皆為西方所傳，八寶吉祥紋、獸首耳、蹲龍鈕則為傳統中國文化之精髓，構思用意彰顯皇家氣度，用料為體量之大的碧玉整料更顯皇家奢華，實乃巧奪天工之作。 來源: 波士頓私人收藏
