Zhou Leyuan (active 1879-1893). This snuff bottle is finely painted inside to depict a landscape scene with a fisherman on a boat and a hut under large pine tree, the top left signed Zhou Leyuan with one seal mark; the reverse depicting figures strolling on bridge with hills and waterfall in the background. Jadeite stopper. 19th century.

來源:加州帕薩迪那私人收藏，集於2004年以前周樂元(活躍於清光緒年間)，為清末民初京派內畫鼻煙壺四大名家之一, 內畫鼻煙壺的一代宗師，其作品題材廣泛，善於山水人物、花鳥魚蟲及書法等，無不精美。畫面中主題古樸精緻，淡雅雋逸，並於畫中多有題跋，強調內容與畫面協調一致。周樂元憑藉其扎實的繪畫功底，將繪於宣紙上的中國傳統畫逼真地濃縮在寸天厘地的鼻煙壺內，不得不令人折服。
