YONG QING: A LARGE PURPLE CLAY 'LION' TEAPOT    用卿款 紫泥大圓壺

Of globular form, the large purple clay teapot with smooth and round surface, a spout that curved three times, without neck, and a lion surmounted on the lid acting as a finial. Exterior with Chinese colophon and artist signature “Yong Qing” in cursive script, slightly slanted, showcasing expert engraving techniques. Chen Yongqing, expert Yixing teapot maker during Ming Dynasty Tianqi and Chongzhen period, nickname “San Dai Zi”.


用卿製壺以渾成醇飾稱道。此壺泥色紫褐,砂質隱現,包漿內斂沉穩,通體為圓球形,三彎流,無頸,嵌入式口蓋,臥獅捧繡球蓋鈕,型製碩大,氣勢磅礴,題書與落款皆為草書,并斜向一邊,刀法淋漓,十分快意,風格獨特,為其鮮明特色。 陳用卿,明代天啟、崇禎年間宜興製壺高手,生卒不詳,俗名三呆子。
